The challenge

Quality products
needed visuals to match.

LIDL needed to replace product photography that wasn’t doing its own brands justice and give them a more professional presentation, fast. Across a wide range of products, the challenge was to raise image quality while keeping production consistent and controlled.

Catalog imagery came first, but the work also needed to support future content beyond print.

The system

A production system behind every digital twin.

Using CAD files and reference photography supplied by LIDL, Pixel&Co reconstructed each product without needing the physical item on hand. A shared production framework kept quality consistent as more products entered the workflow.

01

Reconstruct each product

Recreate geometry, materials, finishes and construction details as a detailed digital twin.

02

Establish the visual standard

Build a shared material library and define lighting and camera setups for a polished, consistent presentation across products.

03

Make production repeatable

Use production scripts and standardized render settings to produce catalog imagery at scale, retaining each digital twin for future content.

Across categories

Built for very different products. Held to one visual standard.

From tools and appliances to kitchenware, automotive accessories, personal care and home products, the same workflow adapted to different materials, features and technical requirements.

Documented scale

From 8 to 150 products per production phase.

Across four documented production phases, the CGI system supported growing volumes of catalog imagery, animation and other content while maintaining an established visual standard.

Across the retail experience

Created for the catalog.
Ready for what came next.

The digital twins remained useful beyond the first catalog delivery. Existing models became the foundation for animation, TV commercials and interactive experiences, extending the value of the original production work.

The result

A higher visual standard, with value beyond the catalog.

LIDL gained a more professional presentation for its own brands and a reusable digital product library. What began as a catalog imagery brief became a production foundation for more products, more formats and more channels.
